Many kids from the slums are kept out the loop of technology, whereas kids from the middle class are busy innovating wonderful computer programs, kids from poor families are battling iliteracy, child poverty and abuse.....

We therefore thought of a way, how equity can be promoted through technology and Makerere Innovation Society made it possible through their weekly programs with our children, youth and single mothers.

"For me since I was born, I had never touched a computer, I didn't even know what it does but I see actors press it in films. I see cartoons in cinemas but I didn't know one day I will make them. Now I can make cartoons and games to play with my friends and soon I'll learn to make robots and better games! I believe in myself. I think one day I will get my own computer and teach my friends computer." - Henry, a street child in Namuwongo-Kampala Uganda. At Guardian Angel Foundation Uganda, we look for street children, single mothers, and touch their lives through hands-on skills that can help them earn a living...

The program has so far empowered over 200 street children and youth here in Namuwongo. We love to see children busy with our computers everyday creating interesting animations and also having fun with the Scratch playing cards. The Creative Child Magazines distributed to homes in Namuwongo and unplugged sessions during home visits help the children to improve their thinking and problem solving skills which can be applied in their dialy lives especially when it comes to making right decisions. Makerere Innovation Society has made our children homes digital homes and we really appreciate the kind support. Together with Makerere Innovation Society, we are setting up an innovation hub for street children in Namuwongo where we shall be able to support more children, youth and single mothers.
